The Planets were more then a band, we were all good friends that loved to play music. After the break up of Maxwell Edison Dean Groom and Chris Maravilla asked me to come over to Terry Markby's house for a jam session. Chris, Dean, Terry and Ken had been getting together on a regular basis learning songs, so I had some catching up to do. Chris and Kenny also had been playing together for many years in a very successful band called Abby Road. This was part of the foundation of the band to be. They both knew a ton of songs from the 60's & 70's. Chris also had a great interest in new music that was on the radio at that time. This helped us to craft a really divers song list. Terry was new to playing in a band but had a drive and desire like no other. He turned out to be a really great performer and singer. At the time the Planets were forming Dean, Terry, Chris and I all played guitar. There were obviously too many guitars....... So Dean offered to try bass. Wow, did he seem to learn fast, at least it seemed to go fast. Dean was always a talented guitar player and turned out to be a really good bass player also. To this day Dean plays bass and only gets better everyday. I know I've talked about how much fun I had in other bands but this band was a scream. Each and every one of these guys has a great sense of humor that made every rehearsal a party atmosphere. We would laugh until we could laugh no more most of the time. Out of all the bands I’ve been in this was probably the most fun.
Thats what it's really all about anyway, having fun!
